A Clinical Facial Treatment starts off with either a Dermaplaning, Chemical peel, or Microdermabrasion procedure (see descriptions below) followed by an individualized custom facial treatment dictated by the skin’s individual needs. Best results are obtained when repeat appointments are scheduled 2-4 weeks apart.

A chemical peel involves the application of one or more exfoliating agents to the skin, causing a controlled destruction of portions of the epidermis and/or dermis. The strength of the peel and the present state of the skin dictate the degree of trauma to the skin layers, which further leads to subsequent regeneration of new epidermal and dermal (collagen) tissues. The specific peeling agent is chosen based upon each patient’s skin type and the conditions that need to be addressed.
Chemical peels require an initial consult and facial to clean the skin and prepare it for the treatment. A thorough examination of your skin, along with a care and treatment history will be taken to determine any contraindications for the treatment. An example of a contraindication is the use of Accutane, which should be discontinued for a period of 12-18 months prior to chemical peels. Another consideration is the pigmentation of the skin. Though chemical peels are indicated as a treatment for unevenly pigmented skin, it can, ironically, in some individuals with darker skin tones, pose an increased risk of skin pigmentation changes. A patch test in an inconspicuous area can give better insight into this possibility if there is some question.
Pre-Medicating: Occasionally there is a need for medication pre-treatment for patients who are prone to cold sores. In that case, a prophylactic course of acyclovir will minimize the possibility of a post-treatment cold sore outbreak.

Dermaplaning is a non-surgical technique to facilitate significant exfoliation of the epidermis. The procedure is performed by a skilled technician using a sterile surgical blade. The skin is held taut, and the blade is drawn flat across the skin at a 45 degree angle. It is completely painless, and feels sort of like a credit card is being scraped across the skin. Dermaplaning removes the outer layer of dead skin cells, extraneous vellous hairs, and evens out the skin thickness. It is useful in improving rough skin texture, some mild scarring, uneven pigmentation, superficial brown spots and fine wrinkles. Though it requires skill, it is painless, more controllable and more effective than microdermabrasion. It can be safely used with most skin types, including pigmented ethnic skin tones, and requires no downtime. A typical regimen consists of a series of 5-10 treatments at intervals ranging from 1 to 4 weeks apart. The Dermaplaning treatment is most effective as part of a Clinical Facial Treatment, and if the condition warrants, can be combined with a chemical peel.

A non-surgical mechanical exfoliative treatment utilizing a state of the art machine that sprays the skin with exfoliating crystals, and simultaneously vacuums them up along with impurities and excess skin cells. Helpful to those with acne-scarring, sun-damaged skin, age spots, freckles, fine lines, scars, and rough skin. Microdermabrasion is most effective as a part of a Clinical Facial Treatment.

Special massage techniques enhance the circulation, providing the cells with nutrients, and facilitating the removal of toxins via the lymphatic system. The PSG Signature Facial includes surface and deep cleansing, exfoliation, face, neck, décolleté’, hand and arm massage as well as a masque or compress. $110
Impure skin can occur anywhere from the onset of adolescence to adulthood. The earlier the condition is addressed, the better the chances for success. Young teens often have blackheads and non-inflammatory clogged pores, and if left untreated, the condition will often escalate to inflammatory acne. By treating the skin early, providing chemical and/or physical exfoliation, properly expressing the clogged portions of the skin and providing an antiseptic deep cleansing home treatment, the condition can often be controlled until they grow out of it. Of course we are always willing to work in conjunction with a Dermatologist prescribed program if medical intervention is necessary.
Adult onset acne is treated differently from teen acne, because it often goes hand and hand with thickened, aging, dehydrated skin, is usually more hormonally influenced, and less likely to be accompanied by oily skin.
